The beginning of a refreshed life is what is known as NEWBIRTH.
To refresh means to rouse from a state of inactivity or quiescence.
It also means to give new life, energy, activity or success to something. It is very important to be Born-again to experience new birth. ” Oh! You may be wondering, born again? Do you mean I’d have to go back into my mother’s womb to carry me for 9 months. How on earth is that possible. ”
This same question that has been lingering your mind happened to so many people. You actually don’t need to be confused, the same thing happened to Nicodemus in the Bible.
There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2 The same came to Jesus by night and said unto Him, “Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God; for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, unless God be with him.”
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, “Verily, verily I say unto thee, unless a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said unto Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
THE NEED FOR NEW BIRTH
There are two kingdoms, the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness (Colossians 1:12-13). To be in the kingdom of light (kingdom of God) you have to experience the new birth. The new birth simply means to be born again (John 3:3, 1 peter 1:23). To fulfil God promise for us here on earth we have to be born again. Every child conceived naturally I. e through contact between a man and a woman is a sinner (psalm 51:5). For us to be holy, redeemed and to be joint heirs with Christ, it is very important to be born again.
WHAT IS THE NEW BIRTH?
The new birth is when life is given to a “new” thing. The bible says “old things are passed away” not “old things are renewed”. And the new birth can only be given by God through our belief in Jesus Christ. The new birth cannot take place until an old thing dies entirely.
Even Jesus had go through the stage of “dying” before He could resurrect. It signifies the “New Birth” also.
(John 1:12-13, Romans 11:17, Romans 6:1-4, 1corithians 15:36-38)
The above scriptures fully explains ‘the new birth’ . 1corithians 15:36-38 (NLT) explains to us using a seed as an example that it doesn’t grow into a plant unless it dies first. So it is with we, having a new birth means our old self, sinful nature died and was buried with Christ at His death and we got a new life by the resurrection of Christ. We aren’t the same anymore, we are a new being. The spirit of God is already one with your spirit and so you are a new being. You’ve gained a new nature and begin to act in the steps of this godly nature enjoying His fullness and goodness. Your birth is a victory. The process between the conception and delivery isn’t a joke at all, conception in the sense that the moment at which you are hearing the word and paying attention already formation is taking place, disposition of the old self is taking place and delivery in the sense that when you are already risen with Christ starting out your new life in Him.
THE REQUIREMENT FOR NEW BIRTH
There have been arguments as to what determines or makes a person born again. According to scripture (John 3:16) we see that the new birth is centered on receiving Jesus as the Christ.
In the sense that you acknowledge that He is the promised messiah (Jeremiah 23:5, Psalm 72:1-19, Luke 1:26-32),
He came in form of sinful flesh through a virgin birth to pay the ultimate price for the remision of sin (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Genesis 3:15, Luke 1:34-35)
He was without Sin (1 Peter 2:22, Luke 1:35, 1 John 3:5, John 19:4, Hebrews 4:15)
He was crucified (Matthew 27:33-56, John 19)
He died and resurected on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Matthew 20:18-19)
If your Salvation was based on the above experiences then your salvation is genuine according to scripture (Romans 10:9-10).
EVIDENCE OF NEW BIRTH
Regeneration: there’s a development in the area of that individual. Which would result in rapid growth in the kingdom. It brings about a new self esteem and establishment making one to focus on the future and ignore the past. The Holy Spirit then comes in. He’s been there before but your regenerated mind keeps him active. The activation of the Holy Spirit causes an outward shift of refreshing from the presence of God. You begin to become more intimate and lively with things of the Spirit, David said “I was glad when they said to let us go into the house of the Lord ” this is another example of a regenerated mind you become a God chaser, seeker, keeper, advocate,light,e.t.c .
Anyone who comes to the knowledge if Christ is guaranteed peace.( of the inner man) .and love in all aspect. A new name, life, and future with Christ.
GROWING UP SPIRITUALLY!
New birth is instant but spiritual growth is not, its a journey. Spiritual development takes time. Most people after giving their life to Christ think that’s all and they now go back to their previous ways which shouldn’t be so. Just like after receiving admission into the university, you have to go through lectures, trainings to achieve the degree the reason why you applied to the university in the first place. So its not enough to give your life to Christ, discipline yourself with the power of the holyspirit to go through the spiritual growth. Below are the basic keys you need to apply to continue in new birth.
1.Word & prayer: Consistency is required in this aspect. Make it an habit to meditate and pray daily (Joshua 1:8, 1 Thessalonians 5 :17). It is when you have the understanding of the word that you pray in the word. Moreover, you’ll need the word of God during the challenges of life. Christ was a major example of one who was consistent in both word and prayer. One of the major ways to know the mind of God is through the word of God, then you pray it according to the word through this you don’t pray amiss.
2. The Holy Spirit: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all, Amen. (2 cor 13 : 14). The verse has explained it all that the grace was given to us through Christ. God loves us in which he gave us his only begotten son to die and save us from our sins. We are in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit. We need to have a cordial relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is our guide, teacher, counselor, comforter, standby, strengthner, advocate, friend and helper. There’s nothing we can do without him in your life (zech 4:6).
Fellowship and commune with him on a daily basis. God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us through the journey of life in. You can develop a close and cordial relationship with the Holy Spirit by meditating on the word and praying always.
In conclusion you have to die before you live (dying here means subjecting yourself to GOD) and He his ready to accommodate.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28-30. KJV
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
Isaiah 1:18 KJV
If you want to give your life to Jesus (accepting Him as your personal Lord and savior), or you were ones a believer and then you fled away from God’s presence, there is still Grace for you.
repeat these words and believe it in your heart. Say, “Lord Jesus, I accept You today as my Savior and Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner, that I can be made whole through You my Redeemer. I receive your Spirit into my Spirit man, Thank You Jesus for saving me! Amen.”
