Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
John.6.27
Bread according to the English dictionary means food; sustenance; and support of life in general. There are three basic needs of the natural man – food, clothing, and shelter. Food means any substance that can be consumed by living organisms especially by eating to sustain life.
We eat the physical bread to sustain the natural life but we need Jesus, the bread of life to sustain eternal life.
John.6.58 – This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live forever.
In the time of Moses, manna, the physical bread was what fell from heaven and the people who ate of it died(natural death). Jesus Christ is the only bread from heaven we eat and do not die(perish) but have everlasting life.
John.6.51 – I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eats of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Just as we need our daily bread for our natural life, we need Jesus more for eternal life. The mortal body will die someday and it is only those who have the life of Jesus in them who will be raised to eternal life on the last day. John 6:53-55
When you eat the flesh of Jesus and drink His blood, you dwell in Him and He, in you. John 6:56 You do not live by yourself but by Him. We need Jesus to run this race, He alone can lead us on the path of righteousness.
To have access to this life, you need to be born again. You can’t live in sin and have the life of God in you. Surrender your life today and begin to enjoy the life of God!
