Galatians 5:1 (KJV)
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
The story of Jesus Christ, as it comes to life in his followers, is a story of freedom, to be sure, but a freedom constrained by the Cross and deeply at odds with individualistic notions of liberty.
What is freedom, exactly?
Freedom is the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved. Jesus Christ rescues us from the slavery of sin and death, and offers true freedom in this life and beyond.
Through the power of Christ, His people can be set free from the bondage of greed, vanity, pride, pornography, addiction, abusive behavior, gluttony, selfishness—and any other sin under the sun. Jesus says:
“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and truth will set you free. ”John 8:31-32
As Christians, we should see freedom as an opportunity to live a better and well fulfilled life. Our freedom came at a price. Wake up every morning and say to yourself “My freedom came at a great cost”. Realising this makes you even freer.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ”John 3:16
NO BETTER FREEDOM
KEY POINT: Jesus Christ is the only answer to your guaranteed freedom.
