Generally speaking there a lot of things that makes people fear. It can be categorized into two;
1. When people do not see God as God
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom but when the fear of God is not in us, we lack wisdom. We won’t be carried away with worldly things when we have the Wisdom of God. There’s an understanding God wants us to walk in as believers, stop being ignorant. Who you fear is who you obey.
Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me.Psalm 23:4
Let our gaze be on Christ. We must continually see God as God. He’s God and He lives forever.
2. When we as believers do not understand who we are in Christ
When you understand who you’re in Christ it changes everything. The highest position that you can ever attain aside being God who only God is, is to be called a son of God. Honestly speaking, we have been so causal with that word “son of God”. We don’t see value in it anymore. As sons of God, we should understand that we have authority. Authority is what we freely have in Christ. As we all know that there are basic things that a child of a king have access to, same thing applies to us. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world” – 1 John 4:4. As Followers of Christ, we should understand that we are overcomers by default.
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.Luke 10:19 (NKJV)
We should understand that that God is with us, Christ in us is the hope of Glory. As believers we don’t go to battle thinking we’ll win instead we go to battle understanding that we are overcomer by default. We are more than conqueror through Him that loved us. When we know our realities in Christ it changes everything about us. Christ is on our side. We’re joint heirs with Christ. We are children of God. When we understand who we are in Christ we won’t fear.
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP)
Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].– Philippians 4:6-7 (AMP)
If we are going to walk out of fear then we need to walk in this consciousness. Christ is in us. God is with us. We must see God as God beyond the things that are happening.
Finally, [a]believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].– Philippians 4:8 (AMP)
Let’s confess this as our reality in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!
