7 Things You Should Know About The Holy Spirit – Apostle Emmanuel Makarios

7 Things You Should Know About The Holy Spirit – Apostle Emmanuel Makarios

1. After salvation, we experienced the Holy Ghost immersion. He brings us freedom from addiction, sin, and in turn gives us deep peace, unexplainable joy, and renewed passion. It gives us boldness, a decreased appetite for this world, prophecy, and the assurance of sonship. [Romans 8:14-17] ‘For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.’

2. The Holy Spirit lives inside if you and is very active when you indulge Him. Our dependence on the Holy Spirit is what makes the Spirit so powerful in our lives. As we continue to lean on the Spirit, it becomes easier to stay in step with the Spirit. Deepen your dependence on the Holy Spirit, and realize more of God’s power in your life. [Gal 5:16-17] ‘But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do’.

3. The Holy Spirit makes God’s word to come alive. It’s where the Holy Spirit reveals God’s truth to our hearts, and where our spirits respond to his. This living word brings a unity between man’s spirit and God’s spirit.

4. The Holy Spirit gives direction and restores peace to believers. [John 14:26-27] ‘But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.’

5. The Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf. There will be times when we face challenges, we won’t know what to say or how to pray. It’s in those speechless moments when we let the Holy Spirit intercede for us. [Rom 8:26] ‘In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.’

6. The Holy Spirit gives empowerment to believers for service and missions. Not only does He give every believer a spiritual gift for serving God’s purposes in the church and world, He also empowers to take the good news of Jesus to the world. [Act 1:8] ‘But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.’ The Holy Spirit is able to soften the hardest heart and bring men and women to faith in Jesus.

7. The Holy Spirit is a seal in the life of believers. In the ancient world, a seal is known as a “legal signature” attesting ownership and validating what was sealed.
The Holy Spirit is our mark of adoption as the children of God. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to his followers so that they could be confident in their salvation. The Holy Spirit is a deposit in our lives confirming the validity of Christ’s message and that we belong to Christ. [Ephesians 1:13] ‘In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.’
