TOPIC: OUR GLOWING PRIVILEGES FROM GRACE TO GLORY

TEXT: PSALMS 90:1-2,14,16-17; 91:1-2,14-16

Looking at these two psalms, you will wonder at the coincidence, but in the kingdom of God, there are no coincidences, all things are known unto God. We will read some select verses in the two chapters. As I have always said, when you read the word of God, you must understand the whole revelation of God’s word altogether. You must not take just a verse or portion of scripture and run with it, leaving every other thing behind. For example, in Psalm 90:10, “The days of our years are three score and ten”. A score is 20, therefore, three scores is 60 while added to 10 is 70. The verse continues, “…and if by reason of strength they be four score years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away”.

What do you understand by that? You look at the title of the psalm and you find that it is the psalm of Moses which he wrote by the inspiration of the Spirit of God. Moses started his ministry at the age of 80 and he went on to 120 years. He was not alone, there was Caleb who at age 85 said “Give me this mountain!”. We also have Joshua who when he was nearing 100 years, the Lord told him that there were still more land to be possessed.

Think of John the Beloved who at the age of 95/96 was given the revelation to go and give to the nations. So, when you read any part of the Bible, don’t just forget every other part and focus on the part which says 70 years for the average person/people but that part which says, “with long life will I satisfy you”. God will reveal greater things to you today in Jesus’ name.

Today, I want to talk briefly on the topic, OUR GLOWING PRIVILEGES FROM GRACE TO GLORY. From the point of grace of salvation to the end in glory, the privileges and grace we have will keep on growing and glowing in your life in Jesus name.

A. ABIDING SAINTS UNDER THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY. Psalm 91:1-4
These are saints who are children of God and who abide, and will not be going in and coming out of the shadow of the Almighty. The Great I am, the Shepherd of Israel, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father is our refuge, fortress in whom we will trust.

  1. The Constancy of Abiding Believers
    (Psalm 91:1; John 15:4-7; 1 John 2:6,24-28; 3:6-9,24)

This is what Jesus Christ said when He told us in John 15:4 about those who are born again and have no condemnation. He said they should abide in Him because that is the secret of the protection and the grace of God flowing into our lives. When we as branches of the vine abide in Christ, we will bear fruits, and what He would have been doing if He were here, we will do. The fruit will manifest anywhere we go, and people will know that we are branches in the vine. Jesus is the Vine, while we are the branches. He will answer your prayers.

What is the evidence that you are abiding in Him? When you walk, live talk like Him, and you plan, prevail and make progress as He would do if He were here. Live, walk like Him and live by His word.

  1. The Confession of Accredited Benefits
    (Psalm 91:2; Deuteronomy 33:25-27; Jeremiah 16:19-21; Deuteronomy 26:17-19)

There are many believers who go through life saying the wrong things and not confessing the benefits the Lord has apportioned and given to them. But as for the psalmist, he knew and declared what the Lord is to him. If you make the right confessions all the time, you will not be disappointed.

“Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be” (Deuteronomy 33:25). This should be your confession daily and it shall be so for you. You may feel weak and sick, but you will reject it and claim the promises of God. When you accept all that God has prepared for you, you will be a recipient of that in Jesus’ name.

  1. The Confidence in the Almighty Benefactor
    (Psalm 91:3-4; 112:6-7; Isaiah 53:4-6; Ezekiel 18:21,28,30-32)

Who are those who will benefit from this? The righteous who will be in everlasting remembrance. God will not forget you, and even the world will not forget your contribution to the progress of the world around you in Jesus’ name. The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. His heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. The promises of God will be fulfilled in you, and all the “surely, surely” in scripture will be fulfilled in your life. Even now, surely, goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life.

B. ABSOLUTE SECURITY IN THE SHELTER OF THE ALMIGHTY
There is absolute security for abiding saints in the shelter of the Almighty. As you abide in the Lord, you are secured.

1.The Promise of Impregnable Security
(Psalm 91:5-8; Isaiah 43:2,4,7; Luke 12:6-7; Psalm 127:3,5)

In view of the impregnable security God has provided, nothing will affect you or your family negatively in Jesus’ name. The psalmist declared his faith in the Lord, you have to do same because you cannot have faith and fear in your heart at the same time. You are secured from pandemic and epidemic, they will not get to you or your doorstep. Your life will not be wasted, you will fulfill all that God has ordained for you. Do you remember all that happened to the children of Israel? The Lord saved them out of all trouble. No evil will befall you, your life is secure. The rod of the wicked shall not rest on the lot of the righteous. God is able to preserve your going out and coming in. His protection, preservation and peace will be upon your life.

2.The Preservation of Incorruptible Saints
(Psalm 91:9-10; 71:3,5,7,17; John 17:15-26; Galatians 1:4)

Saints are those who are incorruptible, no matter what they go through. In your office, in your community and with your family, as you choose to remain incorruptible, there is the promise of preservation for you. In the night, in the day, when believers are there or not there and you are alone, there shall no evil befall you, and no plague will come near your dwelling. If you are an abiding saint and you remain incorruptible, and steadfast in your commitment to the service of the Lord, temptations, trials and difficulties may come, but the Lord will preserve you and you will be a wonder to many. He will remain your refuge, and keep you from evil.

3.The Presumption of Ignorant Servants
(Psalm 91:11-13; Luke 4:9-12; Isaiah 42:18-21; Psalm 19:13-14)

If God, our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit quotes or reminds you of the word of God, it is good, but when satan wants to become your prophet, interpreter, director, you will not allow him, even if he is quoting the Bible. Yes, the protection of God is sure for you, but you must not be presumptuous. You must not put a risk on your life and run headlong into danger which is avoidable, while depending on the promise of God. God did not make the promise for ignorant people. Someone who deliberately drinks poison may lose his life and go to hell fire. The promise of God is not for us to tempt God.

The devil took Jesus to the pinnacle of the temple and quoted the scripture for Him. Satan and unbelievers will not quote Bible for you. People who do not know the head or tail of the word of God must not push you to tempt God or be presumptuous. The Lord answered the devil by quoting the scriptures rightly. We must not misuse any privilege or opportunity we have to be careless and presumptuous.

What should your prayer be? That God will keep you back from presumptuous sin so that it will not have dominion over you, also that the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be acceptable to God. The Lord will grant total and absolute protection to you as you live your life to please Him.

C. ABUNDANT SATISFACTION IN THE SETTING OF THE ALMIGHTY. Psalm 90:14,17; 91:14-16
When you set your love upon the Lord, He also willset His love upon you. As long as you remain in the place where God has put you, He will satisfy your soul, spirit and body abundantly in Jesus’ name. Is it possible to be happy and glad all the days of our life? The Lord will make it happen. He will also establish the works of your hands.

1.The Assured Promotion of Affectionate Saints
(Psalm 91:14; 1 Chronicles 29:3; 2 Chronicles 5:14-15; 1 John 4:16-21)

This is the saint who would not set his love on money or material things, but on God whom he sees to be higher and greater. Therefore, the Lord will set you on high and help you to achieve all that He has ordained for you. The Lord is lifting you up and taking you to the height He planned for you to be. Nothing and nobody will bring you down in Jesus’ name.

He did this because you have known His name which He has given to you to make your requests before Him.
If you set your love upon the Lord, you will not live a selfish life, you will not be looking for what you will benefit from the work but to serve God and humanity. God will only lift up the selfless, not the selfish.

2.The Answered Prayer of Affixed Saints
(Psalm 91:15; 112:4-9; 1 John 3:20-24; Hebrews 4:14-16)

God says anytime you pray, He will answer you. If you ask, you will receive, if you seek, you will find, if you knock, the door of heaven will be open to you. He will be with you in trouble and honour you. Help is available for you. He is God, He will fulfill all His promises for you.

  1. The Astonishing Promise to Affirmed Saints
    (Psalm 91:16; Deuteronomy 5:32-33; John 6:27,40; Romans 6:22-23)

With long life will God satisfy you. I want to ask you a question: how long is long life? Don’t bother to answer. As for the Lord Jesus, He went to the cross to die for humanity after which He said IT IS FINISHED! When you finish everything the Lord has appointed for you to do, that is long life. For David, it was 70 years. After he served his generation, he died. For John the Beloved, after writing the gospel, there was the book of Revelation yet to be written, so God preserved him till he finished the work. For Moses, he lived up to 120 years because he did not start his ministry until the age of 80. For Joshua, he died at the age of 110 after he finished everything the Lord gave him to do.

The Lord will give you long life and you will finish well and strong, and the moment you finish and God takes you, that is your long life. That is why we don’t question when anyone dies, because that is his or her own time. As for you, when you finish and you leave this world, your rewards await you.

Rise up and talk to the Lord that this abundance and all that the Lord has promised will be your portion.

Pray for our father in the Lord that God will give him grace to see more healthy and glorious years in life and ministry in Jesus name.
