Scripture Reference: “Honour (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother; this is the first commandment with a promise”– Ephesians 6:2 AMP
Parental honour is the first law of financial prosperity. “Honour thy father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth” (Ephesians 6:1-2). This is a universal law; without parental honour, things will not go well.
Many of the woes experienced by Christians are rooted in parental dishonor. “He that breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him”. I think it necessary to explore the word ‘Honour’. This, in simple terms talks about esteem. We are to esteem our parents and value them as precious. It takes thoughtfulness to honour our parents.
Very often, I think about the many months of carriage and tender years of breast- feeding my mother invested in me before I knew how to read or write. Let us honour our mothers.
Daily digest: One thing that can never be changed; parental identity
Prayer: Lord, I thank you for my parents. I cannot change them so I choose to treat them the Word-way. I choose to honour them. Let that honour become a seed in my life. Let me enjoy uncommon honour all the days of my life in Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
