We all keep saying the fear of the Lord without having enough understanding backing up those words.
What is the fear of the Lord? The fear of God is having reverence for God.
Most people will say that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 1:7) which is true but it’s like we even lack the light behind this scripture.
What it means is that the moment a man start fearing God, there is a self-check on his behaviours. The moment you truly start fearing God there are certain things that you’ll check to see if it is in line with kingdom pattern.
Let me borrow words from Evang. Lawrence Oyor. The moment a man start fearing God, that time he start having sense. Sense to shape his character in line with kingdom principles.
The reason why you are still having that bad character might not be because of influence or being possessed, no no check well you do not have the fear of God. There are somethings that the fear of God answers to even before prayers set up or finalize.
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. This scripture also make me understand that the first act of wisdom you’ll ever display is not the one that comes from prayer or even fasting but from the fear of God in a man’s heart. …the beginning of wisdom
Let me give you an instance of true reverence for a person.
Remember those moments when your lecturer enters the class that has been filled with noise and immediately there is an atmosphere of silence even without an instruction from the lecturer.
You may not see it as anything but it is what I call fear for someone and this kind of fear is not a bad one because it shapes your actions and activities to doing the likes of the person.
You see that? Were you told to sit down? No. Were you told to stop making noise? No but a sense of reverence in your heart will automatically make you sustain a posture that will please the lecturer.
It is same with God. The acknowledgement of His presence in you should be enough to shape some of your actions then when you’ll need the help of the spirit through prayer is when there are actions or behaviors that has been turned to addiction and are very hard to do away with. But it remains that your heart has taken a new shape as regarding the truth.
That is the fear of God!!!
