“God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it”
I have come to understand that rest is a state of tranquility. It is a default state of man that is so enjoyed by the flesh. The word rest is a relief to the human soul just like a man having gone through so much stress working for 10hours and is asked to rest. Oh! What a joy in his soul and to his flesh.
But I want to introduce something new to you today. Since we all agree that we are spiritual beings and it has been declared by the scriptures that we are the temple of God (2 Corinth. 6:16) we do not see rest in the same light that our body interprets it to be.
True rest is in the place of prayers.
Sounds so interesting right? Let me prove it with the scripture
Isaiah 56:7 says “… I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because my Temple will be called a house of prayer…”
What is means here is that the Temple of God which is us, we believers will be called a house of prayer. So the scripture is trying to say that the default state of the believer man should be that he takes a heart posture of prayers.
It is not after praying for 3hours or more that you now think you are resting from the prayers you just rounded up. The flesh sees it that way but the spirit man has just left his place of rest. His default state.
Jesus himself said in Matthew 21:13 “… My Temple will be called a house of prayer…”. That means if I see you I see prayer moving.
Apostle Paul understood this concept of rest in the place of prayer and he said in Ephesians 6:18 “Pray in the spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere”. (NLT)
Let me end with this note
PRAYER IS TO YOUR SPIRIT MAN WHAT SLEEP IS TO YOUR BODY
