Have you thought about the reason why Jesus Christ came to give us perfect redemption? Do you know that Jesus Christ had the power to lay down His life and to take it again?
John.10.17 – Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
Have you thought about why He came to meet the requirement for perfect redemption by the shedding of His precious blood? (Heb 9:22; 10:4, Eph. 1:7)
Why He canceled the record that contained the charges against us? Why He took it and destroyed it by nailing it on His cross? (Col. 2:14) –
Why He gave up the ghost so we can receive the Holy Ghost? (John 16:7, John 19:30)
Why He gave up Himself to be crucified? (John 3:16)
The barrier between man and God is sin (Isaiah 59:2). The sting of sin is death, the power of sin is the law (1 Corinthians 15:56).
All through the Old testament, even when God had personal fellowship with man it wasn’t as perfect as He planned it to be because the law of sin and death then haven’t been defeated. (Romans 8:2, Ezekiel 18:20)
That was why the Spirit of God wasn’t dwelling in them, He comes upon them and later leaves them.
The moment we become born again, we become the temple of the Holy Spirit, I.e. The Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us forever. (1 Corinthians 6:19, John 14:16)
David knew this that was why He said:
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. (Psalm 32:1-2).
So what then is the purpose of the redemptive works of Jesus Christ? That man can be restored back to perfect fellowship with God.
The Holy Spirit dwells in us when we are born again for the sake of fellowship with the Father. (Further study: John 14, 16)

Matt.7.21-23, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
