The soul is the most important part of a man. The soul is worth more than what money can buy because the soul is eternal. After physical death it goes to heaven (paradise) if it is saved or hell (Hades: the realm of the dead) if it is not saved.
Matt.16.26 – For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Since the bible says “what will a man give” it means it is possible to exchange your soul for something else. Alot of people are obsessed with the things of this world (lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life) that they lose their souls in the process.
To lose ones soul is to die without a right relationship with Christ and spend eternity in the lake of fire.
IS THE HUMAN SOUL REALLY VALUABLE?
1. The soul is valuable because it is distinct from the body (Ecc. 12:7). Only God can destroy the soul (Matt. 10:28). 2. The soul is valuable because it is eternal. (Matt. 7:3-14, Prov. 14:12)
3. The soul is valuable because of the concern God has for it. (John 3:16, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 4:10)
4. The soul is valuable because of the price paid for redemption. (John 3:16, 1 Peter 1:18-19)
Matt 6:33, “But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.?” (AMP) –
Matt.11:28-29, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.” (AMP)
