The whole process of the new birth is linked to we our fellowship with God as new creatures. Our fellowship with God is through the Holy Spirit. That’s why when Jesus was leaving earth He promised to send another comforter which is the Holy Spirit to be with us forever (John 14:16-18).
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” –
God doesn’t just want a personal relationship with you, it must be consistent. God has a plan for your life that’s why He created you. Nobody was created by mistake. It’s through our fellowship with God He reveals His will (plan) for our life and He leads us to pursue it.
Fellowship with God involves:
Studying the word of God: The word of God is the written wisdom of God. In the word of God are principles, instructions and commandments if when believed can guide us throughout our christian race (driving us to fulfillment of purpose).
Waiting on God through Prayer, Praise and Worship:
Prayer is a medium through which we communicate with God.
Praise is the act of complimenting God for who he is and for his virtues (what he has done apart from what he has done for us). For example, we praise God for what he did on the cross, for salvation, for redemption, we can praise God for he is good(Ezra 3:11). –
Romans 12:1 NIV:Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
Worship is a spiritual state of awe (an expression of adoration and reverence) to God. Worship is beyond singing, instead it involves presenting ourselves as living sacrifice which must be done in Spirit and Truth. The Holy Spirit helps us to worship God the right way (true worship).
