God’s will in simple term is his plans for your life. You are created for a purpose or do you think you are created by mistake? No, he has plans for us. His thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are his ways our ways. I know you also have your plans of what you want to become in life, but my dear brethren if it is not in accordance with God’s will, it will be dangerous to move ahead. Don’t reject God’s will for your life, because there are dangers for it.
Dangers of rejecting God’s will
Comparing yourself to others is one of the factors that makes you reject God’s will. Don’t compare yourself with others, let your motto be “Others may, I cannot”. Just like the case of the Israelites who ask for a king, when it was against God’s will. This loving God warned them against it but they refused that they want to be like other nations, who has a king ruling over them (1 Samuel 8: 19-20).
“Nevertheless, the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel, and they said, No! We will have a king over us, That we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may govern us and go out before us and fight our battles” 1 Samuel 8:19-20(AMP).
The danger of rejecting God’s will is that you will work with all your strength without having anything to show forth.
Blessings of doing God’s will
• You’ll continually bask in God’s favour.
• His grace shall be sufficient for you.
• When others are struggling with things you’ll find ease.
• The lord won’t forsake you (1 Sam 12:22).
How to discover God’s will
Don’t run ahead of God. Let God lead you through the journey of life. Before you can discover God’s will for your life, you have to surrender your life to Jesus and accept him as your Saviour.
If you have not been saved, or you have been saved before and you’ve backslide. Please, let’s say this short prayer; “Lord Jesus, I confess that I’m a sinner, please have mercy and forgive me, I believe you died on the cross to save me, I accept you as my Lord and personal Saviour (Amen) ”. Wow! I’m happy for you, you’re now saved.
Secondly, let’s go of your ego, don’t think it’s by your strength or might that you are able to achieve all that you have. The scripture says that our sufficiency is not of us but of God (2 Cor 3:5). Be humble and ascribe all glory to him.
Thirdly, study the word of God. Search the scripture to discover God’s will for your life (Joshua 1:8).
The word of God is a lamp unto your feet, and a light unto your path. Study the bible constantly, don’t see it as an outdated book.
Consequently, Pray always. Pray without ceasing, pray for God’s will always in all aspect of your life (1 Thessalonians 5:17). God does not want you to miss his will for your life, seek God face in the place of prayer. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path.
Doing God’s will shows that you love him. Let me share with you the story of a brother who was an accountant with a master degree. He worked for 9 years in a bank but had nothing to show for it. He then went back to God and asked, what is your will for my life?. God answered him by telling him that he want him to be a book seller. He obeyed God and ever since then he has been doing exploits for God. He won souls for Christ, had time for his family, built houses e.t.c. God blessed him to an extent that even if he wants to travel abroad he can. Let God’s will be done in your life and you shall succeed academically, spiritually, financially, and in every aspect of your life. Stay blessed.
• Lord Jesus, I don’t want to live a fruitless life
• Let your will be done in my life
• Open the eyes of my understanding to know you better.
