“And now Isreal, what doth the lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the lord thy God, to walk in all his ways and to love him, and to serve the lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the lord, and his statues, which i command thee this day for thy good”
The next step after salvation is faithful living, to remain in God, this step is one that we will keep running throughout our life, the passage above preach to us this, God spoke to Isreal through moses this as a requirement for faithful living. God wants us to be faithful, this is what can keep us in righteousness, our faithfulness to God determines our relationship with God, he doesn’t just want a relationship with us but an unwavering relationship i.e a constant (steady, steadfast) communion with him, a relationship the devil can’t take away.
The word faithfulness is derived from the combination of two words, faith and fullness. We then say faithfulness is having faith in fullness. That’s why whenever this topic is preach faith in God cannot be exempted. Faith is the ability to please God (Hebrews 11:6).
In this article, we will be exploring on two keys for faithful living in God. According to Deuteronomy 10:12-13, two keys was coined out which are Fear and Love. This basic two keys well assisted with faith will make a man more faithful to God.
Love is the deep or abiding liking for someone or something (Worship and devotion). To love someone Is to become devoted to that person, to love someone is working to please that person which will then yield to faithfulness. Look at it from a practical perspective, if someone is in a relationship and there is sincere love in character, both individual will avoid doing what will hurt the other, they will do things to please one another even if it doesn’t please them. This is the kind of love God demands (Deuteronomy 7:9).
The fear of God is the specific sence of respect and submission to God. You Respect who you fear, who you fear most is who you adore. The fear of God determines your faithfulness to him, a man who have the fear of God in him will not want to go contrary to his will, because he knows his superiority. God want you to fear him so you can be faithful to him.
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind”
According to this bible verse, loving and fearing God will keep you from going against his will. To become totally faithful to God you must love and fee him for this is the whole duty of man.
